Established in 2018, TukTuk Sri Lanka Rental was born out of a vision to provide authentic travel experiences through local tuktuk rentals in Sri Lanka. However, the unforeseen challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic halted our operations, impacting our community deeply. With the subsequent economic crises, many within our community faced financial setbacks, losing their tuktuks.

Nilusha Achalanka is the founder and CEO of Tuktuk Sri Lanka Rental, the first and largest Local’s own tuktuk rental platform in the country. He is passionate about empowering local tuktuk owners and providing travellers with an authentic and adventurous way to explore Sri Lanka. He oversees the daily operations of the business and ensures that every customer receives a reliable and well-maintained tuktuk.
Nilanka Thambawita
He is responsible for developing and maintaining the website that connect tuktuk owners and travelers. He is also an expert in tuktuk mechanics and provides technical support and troubleshooting for any issues that may arise. He loves to share his knowledge and experience of travelling around Sri Lanka by tuktuk and helps customers plan their ideal itinerary.
Piumi Bernerdean Smith
She is in charge of managing all the financial and legal aspects of the business, including taxation, insurance, and compliance. She also ensures that every member of the tuktuk community receives timely and fair payments for their services. She is passionate about creating a transparent and trustworthy system that benefits both tuktuk owners and travelers.
Dachith Dhanushka Fernando
He has over 10 years of experience in driving and teaching tuktuk driving to locals and foreigners alike. He conducts comprehensive and fun tuktuk driving lessons for travelers before they embark on their own journey. He also provides tips and tricks on how to navigate the roads and traffic of Sri Lanka safely and smoothly.
